This bachelor’s thesis explores and shines light upon the attractions and experiences of the rave environment and it’s participants in Malmö. It will achieve this by giving a deep description of the seemingly fundamental and essential components that during raves, mixes together with the raving bodies. The discovered components that will be managed are: preparation, people, music, dance, environment and drugs. Through the lens of Victor Turners (1969) famous anthropological theories of liminality and communitas, this thesis will argue that the interplay of these components is the source of the experiences of togetherness, connectedness and unity that ravers so often report as central to the overall experience of raving.
